Aluminum alloy 5083 aluminum sheet and plate in marine application
Aluminium 5083 is a strong magnesium-manganese-chromium-aluminium alloy, it contains 5.2% magnesium, 0.1% manganese and 0.1% chromium. In the tempered condition, It can be hardened by cold work, but is not heat treatable to higher strength and has good ductility for the strength level, better than most other 5000 series alloys (see figure). 5083 has high resistance to corrosion, and is used in marine applications. It has the low density and excellent thermal conductivity common to all aluminium alloys.

5083 aluminum plate has exceptional thermal conductivity and higher strength than 5052 aluminum plate. and it is also highly resistant to corrosion. It is especially suited for cryogenic applications as it can withstand extremely low temperatures without becoming brittle or losing its other properties. 5083 plate is easy to form, stamp, weld and finish.
