Welded zinc die casting
Zinc die castings have a wide range of excellent physical and mechanical properties, castability and finishing characteristics. Compared with any commonly used die-casting alloy, the section that can be die-casted with zinc alloy is thinner. Zinc alloys can usually make the design changes of the profile larger and keep smaller dimensional tolerances. Except for brass, the impact strength of zinc is higher than other die casting alloys. Due to the low pressure and temperature of die-cast zinc alloy, it can significantly extend the life of the mold and minimize mold maintenance.
There are some differences between aluminum and zinc parts. The weight of zinc die-cast parts is heavier than aluminum. The melting temperature of zinc is lower than that of aluminum. The draft angle required for zinc parts is small. Zinc is more tough than aluminum.

What is die casting?
Die casting is a method of injecting pressurized molten metal into a mold. The liquid metal enters the cavity through the holes in the preset mold half. The melt is guided into the cavity through channels called runners (called half of the top mold) (the complementary part of the mold). The two pieces are clamped together by a series of pins fixed in place. The metal is then cooled to just above its melting temperature, quickly forming it into a die-cast part. Another set of pins ejects the die casting to eject the assembly.
The die casting itself is composed of steel alloy. They consist of two parts to allow the casting to be removed from the mold: the fixed mold half and the ejection mold half. Other molds have additional movable parts that can be inserted or extracted to create specific shapes in the casting. The mold is cooled by air or water. Holes in the die-cast parts allow air to enter or inject the coolant, thereby facilitating the process. The rapid cooling of the mold allows for rapid cycling, thus beating another round of clockwork-like molds in a considerable period of time: such a die-casting mold can promote more than 5 million castings in a lifetime.
Compared with other manufacturing processes, die casting has some stable advantages. It is fast, competent, and easy to use, and it is available in a variety of shapes and fragments, not to mention durable. After that, since the process can maintain a consistent endurance even for the most complex part shapes, the possibility of editing by machining is very low. Most importantly, castings can be easily modified by plating and/or finishing. These lightweight parts are individual parts that can maintain the strength of the alloy, thereby increasing its stability and heat resistance.
Why zinc?
1,Zinc has a variety of properties and has unique advantages in many die casting applications. These include a combination of strength, ductility, resistance to catastrophic damage, impact strength and finishing characteristics

2,Miniature zinc parts can meet and exceed the standard linear dimensional tolerance of +/- .002" and the precision linear tolerance of +/- .0015". The substantial economic benefit of this progress is the development of economical die-casting molds, which in many cases can extend project life and reduce the cost of zinc parts.
3,Miniature zinc parts circulate at a faster speed and are produced in a multi-slider hot-compartment_zinc_die_casting machine. These micro parts die casting machines have established this technology as the preferred process for complex micro zinc precision parts. Although high-precision miniature zinc die castings can be comparable to hot chamber zinc die castings for larger zinc parts, it can maintain tighter tolerances (usually zero draft) for "net shape" or "such as -cast" Fast cycle time.
4,Such miniature zinc parts are usually die cast with walls as thin as 0.020 inches (0.50 mm) and maintain tolerances of +/- 0.001 inches (0.03 mm).
The quality of zinc or ZA8 parts is improved by reducing metal shrinkage and eliminating post-die casting processing operations. Automated production of zinc parts can reduce the unit cost of miniature zinc parts to a few cents per penny with extremely low mold investment. And your miniature zinc and ZA-8 die-casting mold (tool) will last for the life of your project.
