Description:
American walnut veneer, also called black walnut veneer, originated from the east of U.S., is a hardwood veneer mainly used for furniture surface making and interior decoration. It has smooth and even lines and stability nature, with very good painting and dyeing performance, and perfect surface effect will be gained after polishing.
Walnut veneer is one of the most popular thin wood sheets for interior decoration and architecture. Today, when we talk about walnut wood veneer, most is American walnut wood veneer. American black walnut, American red oak, and American white oak veneer are the 3 most popular wood species in the world now.
American Walnut is one of the most versatile, varied, and well-loved veneers. It is light gray-brown to purplish-brown wood. Quartered, the veneer presents an even grain, fairly straight throughout.
Walnut veneer is light grayish brown to chocolate brown in color. It has a fine to moderately coarse texture, medium porous to uniform grain, and finishes nicely with stain or natural clear coat to preserve the warmth and color. Walnut is a hardwood of medium density, very easy to work with and strong.
Its rich brown color, typically stained dark, makes it a good choice for library paneling or large furniture. In veneers, walnut has been a common choice for centuries. The most popular form of walnut veneer is walnut burl. Walnut has an unusual growth structure that allows individual small growth rings inside the normal pattern. When sliced thin, these burls can create beautiful patterns that have been used as decorative accents on all kinds of furniture.
Applications:
Walnut veneer may be used on its own, applied over lesser woods to give the appearance of solid walnut lumber. It is also commonly used in marquetry, also known as wood inlay, in combination with other hardwoods to create intricate patterns. In this application, the more exotic burled walnuts are very highly sought.
