What is SCV in diesel engine?
Maintaining the correct fuel pressure under all driving and load conditions is a requirement for the efficient operation on a Common Rail Diesel (CRD). An ECU operated suction control valve (SCV) or fuel metering control valve (FMCV) located on the back of the high-pressure supply pump is utilised for this purpose.
What does a fuel pump suction control valve do?
The Suction Control Valve or SCV is responsible for the control of fuel pressure inside common rail engines. It allows only the required amount of fuel to be pumped through the system.
Causes of SCV valve failure
Short-circuit fault of the metering unit: short circuit at the high end and low end of the connector, at this time the metering unit itself loses current, the spool is also located in the maximum oil supply position.
