High Modulus UV Resistant Ultra Lightweight 3K CF Tubes - 1000mm

Ultra lightweight carbon fibre tubes with a “twill” fabric top layer and a UV protective high gloss coating. This product is characterized by a wall thickness of 0,5mm. Very suitable for super lightweight construction with good stiffness and reasonable strength. The fibre volume content is approximately 65% and the fibre orientation is 50°-50°. The product length is 1000mm with a diameter tolerance of about 0,2 mm.

How is carbon fiber woven?

Plain weave, or 1x1 weave, carbon fiber fabric is symmetrical and resembles a checkerboard. The tows are woven in an over/under pattern, offering tightly interlaced fibers which are highly stable. Fabric stability refers to a material's ability to maintain its fiber orientation and weave angle.

What is the difference between unidirectional and woven carbon fiber?

Fundamentally, unidirectional carbon has all the fibres running parallel to each other, all pointing in the same, single direction – a uni direction, if you will. Woven fabrics, on the other hand, will have carbon fibres that run in at least two directions.

In addition to high strength-to-weight ratio, woven carbon fibers are thermally and electrically conductive. They have high tensile strength, low density, low weight, low thermal expansion and excellent fatigue resistance.

What is the difference between plain and twill weave carbon fiber?

Plain weave styles are less pliable, but hold together well when cut. On the other hand, twill weaves feature fibers that run straighter for greater lengths—maintaining the theoretical strengths of the fiber—so they are more pliable and stronger than plain styles.
