Welded Steel Grating Introduction:
I. Bearing Bar (Load Bar) can be two types: plain flat type and serrated type. So, please mention the bar type with your inquiry. Common bar size range(mm): 20 x 3 to 100 x 9. II. Bearing Bar Pitch / Spacing (center to center): 12.5 to 100 mm normally. 30, 40, 60mm are recommended. American standard size is available III. Cross Bar Pitch/Spacing (center to center): from18.5 to 101.6mm or custom size. 50, 100mm are recommended. American standard size is available. IV. Spacing Types: We offer two spacing types: square or each pitch size, or rectangular spacing. V. Steel Material: Q235 Steel or stainless steel grating. VI. Surface Treatment: Three types available. Please advise if you need the finishing types of the Mild Steel grating: Untreated/ mill black, coated or Hot Dipped Galvanized. Also please note we offer two types of hot dipped zinc plating according to different standards: China standard: YB/T 13912-2002 or American Standard: ASTM A123. VII. Please mention the application for the order grating products, whether it is used for platform structures, industrial flooring decks or stair treads, drainage covers or other uses. We supply steel gratings with a variety of loading capacities (light type or heavy loading) and can help choosing the right grating materials and design styles that may determine the loading of the finished grating panels ( whether the grating is open bar or dense mesh type ) accordingly.

MATERIALS Mild Steel grating load bars are manufactured from steel that complies with AS/NZS 3679.1:2010 grade 300 (or equivalent)
TOP SURFACE
Typically supplied with a plain surface. On our most popular products a Serrated surface (S) is also available. Please refer to the loading charts in this section of the catalogue to see which Mild Steel grating types are available with a Serrated surface.
The "S" at the end of the code represents a Serrated surface, no notation represents a plain surface. Grating will be assumed plain surface unless S is dictated at the end of the product code or is clearly specified as Serrated. Eg- 255/1S or 255/1 Serrated

STANDARD SHEET SIZE Series 1 grating: 995mm (wide) x 5800mm (span) Series 2 grating: 1005mm (wide) x 5800mm (span) Series 3 grating: 965mm (wide) x 5800mm (span) *Standard panel widths may vary slightly to what is indicated as there are minor manufacturing tolerances allowable during the process of manufacturing grating. *Sizes above state grating manufactured from 5mm load bars (for 3mm load bar full panel width please -2mm off the sizes eg- 993mm wide for series 1 and 1003mm wide for series 2).
HOW TO SPECIFY / ORDER MILD STEEL GRATING
Use the quick reference load charts or the main load charts to determine a suitable load bar size and series to suit your loading requirements. Eg- 255/1 or 325/2 etc...
Designate at the end of the code with an S if you require a Serrated surface, No designation will be assumed a Plain surface.

Designate that the product you require is Mild Steel by referencing M = Mild Steel grating
Designate the finish you require:
U = Black (untreated / raw finish)
G= Hot dip galvanised to AS/NZS 4680
P = Powder coated finish
Specify the size of the area or panel size(s) for the grating you require along with the load bar direction (span)
Specify any additional information we need to know for example if there are cut outs or penetrations in the grating, do we need to split cut outs between panels for installation, is kick plate required, are the grates banded or cut to size only etc....

Stainless Steel Grating
Stainless steel bar grating is a choice for corrosive environments such as chemical, food and hydro processing areas. It is available in welded and press locked as well as in many bearing bar sizes.
Materials: The most common material is Type 304 (SUS304), however, Type 316 (SUS316) or Type 316L (SUS316L) is also available. 304 stainless steel is the most popular type contains both chromium and nickel to provide excellent balance resistance and workability. 316 stainless steel is better corrosion, pitting resistance and higher strength at elevated temperatures than 304. 316L is extra low carbon variation of 316 to avoid carbide precipitation due to welding.
Aluminum Grating
aluminum grating is designed to be a high-strength, low-weight product that uses an I-bar or rectangular bearing bar with cross rods hydraulically swaged under high pressure. Thus, giving you a rigid, virtually maintenance-free flooring product.
Similar to steel grating, aluminum grating can be pressure locked as an alternative to swage locked. This application process also allows the customer to choose a close mesh grate where certain special needs are to be met.
Open Mesh Grating
The open mesh steel grating is a flat panel with a light structure firmly welded together. It is widely used for industrial ladders, decking safety, ventilation ceilings and floors, platform and stair tread protection panels. The open spacing design instead of solid metals allows good ventilation, and easy flow of lighting and heat. The standard sheet size is 1m x 6m standard type (special size and American standard size are also customizable).
