Product Description
Titanium cladding: Titanium is 30% stronger than steel, but almost 50% lighter. Titanium is 60% heavier than aluminum but twice as strong. Titanium has excellent strength retention at 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Titanium is alloyed with aluminum, manganese, iron, molybdenum and other metals to increase strength, withstand high temperatures and reduce the weight of the resulting alloy. The high corrosion resistance of titanium clad is also a valuable property. When exposed to the atmosphere, titanium clad forms a tight and tough oxide film that is resistant to many corrosive materials, especially salt water. Thin titanium clad react slowly with water and air at ambient temperatures. This is because, when exposed to both media, the titanium plate forms a passivated oxide coating or coating to protect the bulk of the metal from further oxidation.
