It uses an app to regulate the temperature of the water, allowing farmers to appropriately heat the water within the trough to desired temperatures, creating a comfortable drinking experience for cows. There are two main types of app controlled heating cow water troughs, a tanked model and a bowled model. Tanked models have a greater capacity and can be used with larger herds as they often feature multiple built-in heaters. Bowled models are smaller and therefore can easily be moved around to different locations or seasons.
An added advantage of an app controlled heating cow water trough is that it is also effective at deterring pests and rodents from drinking the water. This is done by keeping the water warm, which makes it less desirable for animals who would normally drink the water and helps to keep the trough clean. Features such as delayed start timers, digital temperature controllers and automatic shutoff are also integrated into some models to help maximize energy efficiency.
