The production of electrolytic manganese flakes involves the electrolysis of manganese sulfate or manganese dioxide dissolved in sulfuric acid. The process takes place in an electrolytic cell, where a direct electric current is passed through the solution. This causes the manganese ions to migrate towards the cathode (negative electrode) and deposit as metallic manganese flakes.
