FA-TEOT0226, Mini Type Handheld OTDR Optical Time Domain Reflector Different Dynamic Range

 

The basic principle of OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) is to analyze forward and backward scattering light and test fiber transmission loss caused by absorption and scattering and structural loss caused by all kinds structural defects, when temperature or stress effect of a certain fiber point is changed, the scattering characteristics of the point will also be changed, so OTDR detect disturbance information from outside signal which is distributed in the optical sensing fiber by showing the corresponding relation between loss and fiber length.

 

OTDR works like a radar. It sends a signal to the optical fiber first, and then checks what information is returned from a certain point. The process is repeated and then averages all results and show in the form of trajectories that describe the strength of the signal throughout the fiber.
