1. Determine the installation way of the fiber optic patch panel: is the fiber patch panel mounted on the wall or on the 19 inch rack. The fiber optic patch panel is usually installed in the 19” frame, and the small fiber terminal box can be installed directly on the wall.
2. Whether there is enough space for redundant cable. The fiber optic cable should retain a certain length in order to prevent broken fiber, bear high stress, and also can prevent the optical fiber is pulled out with the fiber optic patch panel.
3. Whether there is a protective device. A fiber optic protective device should be installed inside the fiber patch panel.
4. Universal property. Different fiber optic adapters should be as versatile as possible on the fiber optic patch panel. For example, LC type optical fiber distribution frame is suitable for duplex LC/ simplex SC/MTRJ type optical fiber adapter; ST type optical fiber patch panel is suitable for ST and FC type fiber optic adapter. Thus availability of fiber optic patch panel is greatly improved.
5. Whether the structure is flexible. This feature is still to improve the availability of fiber optic patch panel. According to the structure of fiber patch panel (fiber distribution box), it can be divided into 3 types, namely, wall mounted type, cabinet type and rack type (frame). Wall mounted type is generally a box structure, suitable for the number of optical fiber cable and the number of fiber core is smaller. 6. The size of fiber patch panel should be similar to the standard frame of the current transmission equipment to facilitate the arrangement of the machine room.
