The FESTO solenoid valve serves the purpose of controlling liquid and gas pipelines' switch. It is a two-position DO control that is mostly used for small pipeline controls. Electric valves are used for analog regulation of medium flow in liquid, gas, and wind system pipelines, and are controlled by AI. They can also be used as two-position switch controls in controlling large valves and air systems. On the other hand, electromagnetic valves can only be used as switch signals, for DO control, and can only be used for small pipeline control. They are common in DN50 and below pipelines, and are rarely used upwards.
Electric valves can have AI feedback signals, which are controlled by DO or AO. They are more common in large pipelines and air valves. It is worth noting that electromagnetic valves in the form of a switch are driven by a coil and can only be turned on or off, with a short action time during switching. The drive of an electric valve is generally achieved by a motor, and it takes a certain amount of time to simulate the opening or closing action, which can be adjusted.
The working properties of electromagnetic valves generally have a small flow coefficient and a small working pressure difference. For example, the flow coefficient of a 25 caliber solenoid valve is much smaller than that of a 15 caliber electric ball valve.

When selecting AC and DC solenoid valves, the type of power supply should be taken into consideration. AC power supply is generally more convenient to access. In terms of voltage specifications, priority should be given to using AC220V over DC24V. The fluctuation of power supply voltage should be within a certain range, usually +%10 for AC and ±10% for DC. If it exceeds this tolerance, voltage stabilization measures must be taken or special orders must be made. The rated current and power consumption should be selected based on the capacity of the power supply. In situations where the capacity is insufficient, indirect solenoid valves should be preferred. Attention should also be paid to the high VA value during AC starting.
When choosing solenoid valves, it is crucial to consider the maximum and minimum temperatures of the environment, and they should be selected within the allowable range. If there are any deviations, special orders should be made. In environments with high humidity and rain, waterproof solenoid valves should be selected. For environments with frequent vibration, bumps, and impacts, special varieties like marine solenoid valves should be considered. If the solenoid valves are to be used in corrosive or explosive environments, priority should be given to selecting corrosion-resistant materials based on safety requirements. In situations where space is limited, multifunctional solenoid valves should be considered as they eliminate the need for bypass and three manual valves and are convenient for online maintenance.
When choosing solenoid valves, different types should be selected depending on the media and state (gas-liquid or mixed). Different specifications of products should be selected according to the medium temperature, as failure to do so can adversely affect the service life of the solenoid valve. The viscosity of the medium should also be considered, and a high viscosity solenoid valve should be selected if it exceeds a certain value with a diameter of less than 15mm. When the medium is not particularly clean, it may be necessary to install a backwash filter valve in front of the solenoid valve. If the medium flows in a directional manner, a backflow prevention mechanism should be considered.
