 Sensors based on substitution principles have been introduced as successors to traditional transformers to significantly reduce size, improve safety, and offer higher standardization of ratings and a wider range of functions. Current sensors are based on the Rogowski coil principle. The sensor consists of an air-core winding, and since it has no ferromagnetic core, it is not subject to any risk of saturation. It is linear over the entire measurement range. Voltage sensors are based on capacitive voltage dividers. Furthermore, the sensor is unsaturated and linear over the entire measurement range. In combination sensors, the coupling electrodes are integrated in the same compact resin-molded part.
