A leading provider of catalysts for oil refineries and petrochemical processing companies needs hydrogen sulfide for the treatment of various catalysts. The customer sought pumps for the plant for producing hydrogen sulfide which are suitable for feeding and circulating the product in the plant.
Following a prolonged test phase and many conversations with various pump manufacturers, the customer opted for three Accuvon rotary lobe pumps. The pumps have an ATEX-compliant design.
It was necessary to manufacture the pump casing and the rotors from Hastelloy due to the aggressive pumped medium. Three pumps are installed on top of each other with minimum space requirements in order to maintain the pump without having to stop the production process. One pump is used as a reserve pump.
It was important for the customer to install an overpressure protection into the plant to guarantee high process reliability. The customer opted for the Accuvon relief valve. The relief valve is installed on the pump instead of the standard pump cover. If the working pressure in the pump chamber exceeds the predefined pressure, the relief valve opens and the pumped medium can flow back within the pump chamber. This equalizes the pressure. If the pressure in the pump chamber decreases, the If the pressure in the pump chamber decreases closes.
