Characteristics of Electric windlass
Electric windlasses are the most widely used on ships.
According to the different electricity systems used by ships, electric windlasses have DC electric and AC. The DC electric windlass has good speed regulation characteristics and high use efficiency, but the initial installation cost is high, and the brushes need regular maintenance.
The AC electric windlass has poor speed regulation performance, and usually can only be changed in stages, relying on pole change or a set of reduction transmission mechanism between the motor and the windlass to obtain several speed grades. This set of reduction transmission mechanism, due to the considerable reduction ratio required, and considering the reliability of the transmission device and the windlass, the structure is relatively complex, the weight and the area occupied by the deck are relatively large.
The reduction transmission device often adopts spherical worm gear transmission, spur gear transmission, planetary gear transmission and other transmission methods. Generally speaking, the planetary gear reduction transmission mechanism is light in weight, small in size, high in transmission efficiency, and easy to maintain, so it is widely used.
