New reverse osmosis membrane elements are usually soaked in 1% NaHSO3 and 18% glycerol aqueous solution and stored in sealed plastic bags. If the plastic bag is unbroken, it will not affect its service life and performance if stored for about 1 year. When the plastic bag is opened, it should be used as soon as possible to avoid adverse effects on components due to NaHSO3 oxidation in the air. Therefore, the film should be opened before use.

After understanding the standard desalination rate of reverse osmosis membrane elements, the relationship between the actual desalination rate of reverse osmosis membrane and the desalination rate of reverse osmosis system, when designing reverse osmosis devices, providing users with system performance guarantees, accepting reverse osmosis devices or evaluating the performance of membrane elements, it must be based on the actual desalination rate of the system, not the standard desalination rate of membrane elements.
