Our various umbrella structures differ in size, structural geometry and ornamentation. All of their shapes were found using scientific form-finding processes and correspond to the minimal surface. The form-finding is coupled with structural engineering and the simulation of all load cases in an iterative process. This leads to optimized umbrellas with structural efficiency, lightness and intrinsic beauty.
Umbrellas can be arranged in groups of any size to form flexible convertible roofs that give shelter from sun and rain. They are highly flexible and can be adapted to any surroundings. They enhance the climatic comfort of buildings and urban spaces. During summer the consistent use of the shading system reduces the temperature in the sheltered space and during winter the principle is reversed: absorbing warmth into the building by opening the roof at daytime, and closing it at night.
