Shape memory nitinol wire could be used to develop implants that can be inserted into the body in a compact shape and, once implanted, activate their functional form. If you need wire in a specific shape for a specific application, we offer shape sets. This sets a filament shape that is specific to your device design requirements. We not only produce various forms of nickel-titanium alloys, but also control the entire production process of nickel-titanium alloys from beginning to end. In the field of medical equipment, we provide the world's leading raw materials from nickel-titanium alloy melts to finished products.

 

Superelasticity occurs at temperatures just above the transition temperature, allowing the material to recover from strains of up to 8%, with permanent strains set at 0.5% or less.

 

Nitinol wire comes in two basic forms: Nitinol wire and flat wire, and Nitinol centerless ground rod.

4.) Etching - chemically removes the oxide layer, leaving the surface smooth

6.) Etching and mechanical polishing - chemically remove the oxide layer and then mechanical polishing, the surface will have a stainless steel appearance (micro scratches will be found when magnifying 40x)

6. Nitinol Wire Application:

 

Nitinol wire is used in many different medical and industrial applications. Medical applications include vascular therapy, heart rhythm management, neurostimulation, orthodontics, orthopedics, endoscopy, dental implants, and more. Typical medical applications include guide wires, braided stents, root files, dental arch wires, IUDs, sutures, etc.

 

Some typical applications for each NiTi alloy medical grade are given below:

 

Nitinol A: Guide wires, brackets, needles, molding cores, stone removal baskets, orthodontic files, etc.

Nitinol B*: Often used in situations where higher plateau loading and unloading stresses at room temperature are required. The addition of chromium lowers the transformation temperature and increases the tensile strength.

Nitinol C**: Applications requiring increased stiffness. Cobalt doping lowers the transition temperature and increases tensile strength.

Nitinol D: Provides excellent cycling performance at body temperature (37°C).

Nitinol E: A common application for this alloy is in high temperature actuators.

Nitinol F: A common application for this alloy is in high temperature actuators.

Nitinol G: Typically used in applications requiring phase changes at body temperature (37°C).

Nitinol H: Suitable for extremely low temperature environments.
