The photothermal effect is the main mode of action in current clinical laser applications. When these debris is washed away with saline, significant skin shrinkage occurs. The skin is yellowish, and these features are more pronounced in thicker skin such as the perioral area. The thinner parts of the skin such as the upper eyelid have significant shrinkage without obvious yellowing of the tissue. When irradiated for more than three times, some yellow-brown dehydrated protein denatured substances can be seen, these substances represent the denatured collagen of the dermis reticular layer, and then further Charring and thermal diffusion can occur, resulting in tissue necrosis.
