The petroleum paste, known as paste, which comes in a soft brown color, is used as a primer for the application of petrolatum tapes. It is formulated with moisture-displacing corrosion inhibitors that can be applied by either a brush or a gloved hand at normal temperatures. It does not crack, dry, or harden, ensuring a smooth application.
The paste is commonly used as a primer before the application of petrolatum tapes. The petroleum paste has a unique property that allows it to penetrate existing rust, displace moisture, pacify the surface, and aid the adhesion of tapes and mastic. This, in turn, ensures the longevity of the structure being protected.
One effective way to remove rust is by using a wire brush to scrub off the rust and then wiping the soil with rags to clean the surface thoroughly.
To prevent rust from forming, it is recommended to apply PETRO PASTE regularly. This can be done by applying the paste by hand in a range of 300-500g/m2.
In case of complicated and uneven surfaces, such as valves, flanges, and unevenness, PETRO PASTE can also be used as a filler. This is because space can be left out when tape is wrapped over these surfaces.
After covering with tape, make sure to overlap the tape above 15 minutes (30-50%). Then, using your hands, level the tape by stroking along the tape line to remove any joints.
For finishing, P.V.C OUTER TAPE can be used. This tape comes in various colors for environmental indication.
