The CNPetro Petrolatum Tape is an anti-corrosive binding with chemical fibers that are based materials like non-woven. Applications:

To prepare surfaces for coating or painting, it is crucial to remove any debris or foreign matter. This can be done by following the guidelines set forth in SSPC SP2 “Hand Tool Cleaning” or SP3 “Power Tool Cleaning”. Alternatively, high pressure water wash of 3,000 - 7,000 psi (20.68 - 48.26 MPa) can also be effective.

After surfaces have been thoroughly cleaned, a thin film of petroleum paste should be applied. Then, spirally wrap the tape around the surface with a 55% overlap. While wrapping, it is important to press out any air pockets and smooth all lap seams.

For surfaces with irregular shapes, such as valves and flanges, it may be necessary to use a Petroleum Filler Mastic or Profiling Mastic. Once these products have been applied, PVC Tape can be used as an outerwrap for mechanical protection.
