An ORP sensor consists of an ORP electrode and a reference electrode, just like a voltmeter measures the difference in potential (voltage). The principle of ORP measurement is to use an inert metal electrode (platinum, sometimes gold) which, due to its low resistance, will either give up electrons to the oxidizing agent (chlorine in this case) or accept electrons from the reducing agent (sulfur dioxide in the dechlorination process middle).

The ORP electrode will continue to accept or give up electrons until it develops a potential, which is equal to the ORP of the solution due to the accumulation of charges. Typical ORP measurement accuracy is ±5 mV.

Brief introduction:

1. Does ORP measurement require temperature compensation?

A: ORP measurement is not temperature controlled, so the ORP sensor does not require temperature

compensation.

2. How do we choose the ORP electrode when the oxidation level is high?

A: In occasions where the oxidation level is high, that is, the ORP value is high, platinum electrodes are recommended, otherwise gold electrodes are recommended. ORP measurements usually use the above two inert materials as indicator electrodes.

3. What is the wire length of the ORP electrode?

A: The lead wire of this electrode is 5m by default, other lengths need to be customized, contact our customer service, the price will vary with the change of length.
