Precision Motive's Cogging Test System is a powerful stand-alone test system specifically designed to control and measure three types of torque: Detent Torque, Cogging Torque, and Friction Torque.
The test system features a precision geared motor, as well as a JT Series Torque Sensor integrated with a 5,000-pulse encoder. Additionally, each torque sensor from JT101 to JT303 is equipped with built-in security clutches to prevent system overload caused by mishandling when not in use.
The geared motor is used to drive the Motor Under Test (MUT) at a low speed of 1 to 10 rpm (other speed options are also available). Simultaneously, the software acquires the cogging torque related to the angle position. The torque measurement covers a range of up to 2 N∙m (depending on the selected torque sensor) with an accuracy of ± 0.1 mN∙m (for JT 101 – 10 mN∙m and JT 303 – 3000 mN∙m).
The system is controlled by executable software that displays acquired data and provides accurate peak-to-peak measurement of cogging torque. It also displays X-Y or polar graphs, as well as FFT analysis. The software enables the storage of measured data and facilitates performance data comparison by overlaying up to 5 graphs. A cursor can be used to read accurate values from measurement points, and measured parameters can be saved as a text file (TXT).
For maximum accuracy and function control, the software also includes a zero offset adjustment routine which checks the transducer signal over a complete turn (with the test sample MUT not connected to the system).
