Co-extrusion is the process of pressing two or more materials through the same die, resulting in one pipe. Three distinct areas of co-extrusion include multi-layer extrusion, extruding wires and fibers within plastics pipe walls, and the coating extrusion of plastics over wires.

A major benefit of multi-layer extrusion is to manufacture pipe with as many as three different materials within a single pipe. The result is that multi-layer solutions can transform critical material properties to create distinctly different materials.
