About Duplex 2304 Stainless Steel Rebar
Stainless steel is divided into martensitic steel, ferritic steel, austenitic steel, duplex stainless steel and precipitation hardening stainless steel. Among them, the most suitable steel for concrete structure is duplex stainless steel. Duplex stainless steel is a ferritic and austenitic phase co-existing steel with excellent mechanical properties and resistance to chloride stress corrosion. In the past ten years, the maturity of duplex stainless steel smelting technology, while the cost continues to reduce, the performance has gradually improved, and the application of stainless steel reinforcement has changed the direction of development.
Duplex stainless steel is commonly 2205, 2304, etc., of which 2304 is the most widely used stainless steel bar for concrete structures. First of all, 2304 contains 23% chromium metal and 4% nickel metal, which will form a self-healing chromium-rich oxide film on the surface of the steel bar, ensuring strong corrosion resistance. At the same time, the yield strength of 2304 after process adjustment reached 600MPa, and it also performed well in other aspects such as elongation and elastic modulus. The most critical is that the price of 2304 is lower than 2205 and 316, etc., which can show a better life cycle cost while reducing the dependence on nickel and molybdenum resources.
