What is stainless steel
Stainless steel is an alloy of Iron with a minimum of 10.5% Chromium. Chromium produces a thin layer of oxide on the surface of the steel known as the passive layer. This prevents any further corrosion of the surface. Increasing the amount of Chromium gives an increased resistance to corrosion. Stainless steel also contains varying amounts of Carbon, Silicon and Manganese. Other elements such as Nickel and Molybdenum may be added to impart other useful properties such as enhanced formability and increased corrosion resistance.
What is Stainless Steel 304L Channel
Stainless Steel 304L Channels are made with an alloy mixture of chromium and nickel in the ratio of 18% chromium and 8% nickel with minimal additions of carbon. The chromium content in the SS UNS S30400 Channels helps them to exhibit higher resistivity against corrosion and oxidation. The Nickel Content helps the ASTM A276 SS 304L Channels to have better formability and better stability. The carbon content in the SS 304L Channels makes them more versatile and applicable. These SS 1.4401 Channels are known to have great formability and their fabrication process is also quite simple. Due to these properties, the ASTM A276 SS 304L Channels have found various applications in deep-drawn marine environments. The SS 304L Channels can resist oxidation up to ASTM A276 SS 304L Channels in intermittent use and 925°C in continuous use.
