Pushback racking is a type of pallet storage system that allows pallets to be stored on both sidesof an aisle, providing higher density storage than other pallet rack systems. A pushback racksystem is a LIFO system, normally composed of an inclined rail section that extends the full depth ofthe storage lane (typically from 2 – 6 pallets deep )
How does Push Back Racking Work?
As can be imagined from looking at the photograph above, pallets are loaded one after the other onto wheeled carriers (each at a different height).
The pallets are then pushed back along the steel guides, thus using the full depth of the racking. For example, you can store four levels of pallets, each on their own wheeled carriers. When retrieving a load, the remaining pallets roll forward into position for picking. Push back racking allows access to pallets on a first-in, last-out basis, generally with each product having a dedicated lane.
