Key Points:
Carbide Grade | YG8 material, density 14.7g/cm, and hardness HRA89 |
Assembling Units | HPGR cemented carbide segments |
Assembling way | Mainly weld |
Replacement | Can be replaced |
Requirement | Good impact resistance and wear resistance |
Basic properties:
1. High hardness and high wear resistance
2. High elastic modulus
3. High compressive strength
4. Good chemical stability (acid and alkali corrosion, high temperature oxidation)
5. Low impact toughness
6. Low expansion coefficient. The thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity is similar to iron and its alloys.
Assembling Way:
1 | Brazing: | One common method for attaching carbide buttons to drill bits is through brazing. This process involves using a filler metal that has a lower melting point than the carbide and the base material. The carbide buttons are placed in their designated positions on the tool, and then the brazing material is heated until it melts and bonds the carbide to the tool substrate. |
2 | Press-Fit: | In the press-fit method, the carbide buttons are precisely manufactured to fit into corresponding cavities or holes on the tool substrate. The buttons are press-fitted into these cavities using hydraulic presses or mechanized equipment, creating a tight and secure bond between the carbide and the tool. |
3 | Adhesive Bonding: | Adhesive bonding involves using specialized adhesives to attach the carbide buttons to the tool substrate. The adhesive is applied to either the button or the substrate, and then the button is positioned and pressed into place. The adhesive cures and forms a strong bond that holds the carbide securely in position. |
4 | Mechanical Fastening: | Some carbide buttons are attached to tools using mechanical fastening methods such as screws, bolts, or rivets. Holes are pre-drilled in the carbide buttons and the tool substrate, and then fasteners are used to secure the buttons in place. |
5 | Sintering: | In some cases, carbide buttons are sintered directly onto the tool substrate during the manufacturing process. Sintering involves applying heat and pressure to the carbide and substrate materials, causing them to bond at a molecular level and form a strong metallurgical bond. |
6 | Welding: | Welding can also be used to attach carbide buttons to tool substrates. This method involves melting the carbide and/or the substrate material along the joint area and allowing them to solidify, creating a fused bond between the two materials. |
The choice of assembling method depends on factors such as the type of tool, the design of the carbide buttons, the material compatibility, and the required strength and durability of the bond. Each method has its advantages and considerations in terms of cost, efficiency, and the specific application requirements.
