Ultrasonic generator, also known as ultrasonic power supply, ultrasonic electronics box, ultrasonic controllers, which is an important component of high-power ultrasound system.
The role of Ultrasonic generator is to convert electric supply to high-frequency AC signal matching the ultrasonic transducer, then drive ultrasonic transducer to work. Considering the conversion efficiency, high-power ultrasonic gerally adopts switching mode power supply circuit type. Ultrasonic power supply is divided into self-excitation, and external force excitation power, while self excitation power called ultrasonic analog power, external force excitation power called as ultrasonic generator.
The ultrasonic generator is at the heart of ultrasonic cleaning systems as it produces the high-frequency signal that the ultrasonic transducers convert to sound waves in the cleaning solution. In addition to generating the signal, the unit can control the frequency and the power, produce several or a range of frequencies and act as part of an integrated, turnkey solution or independently to power separate transducers. Ultrasonic generators need to be selected to match specific cleaning requirements in order for the system to work effectively. Key criteria for generator selection are the power and frequency of the generator and the matching transducers. In each case, the cleaning tank has to be large enough to hold the longest part to be cleaned, the power has to be high enough for the tank size and the frequency has to match the type of contaminant and the mechanical strength of the parts to be cleaned.

Ultrasonic generator principle:
An ultrasonic generator to generate a specific frequency, this signal may be a sinusoidal signal, or can be a pulse signal, this particular frequency is the frequency of the transducer to work. Ultrasonic frequency devices are generally used 20KHz, 25KHz, 28KHz, 33KHz, 40KHz, 60KHz, 80KHz, but has not been widely used for 100KHz or uppon.
Selecting the Right Model
Choosing the right frequency for the application is the key to effective ultrasonic cleaning. Low frequencies in the 26 to 38 kHz range produce large, energetic cavitation bubbles in the cleaning solution. The cleaning action is powerful but fragile components may be damaged and soft surfaces may suffer pitting. This range is suitable for items such as machined parts, glass and wires.
For the mid-frequency range of 78 to 160 kHz, the cavitation bubbles are smaller and the cleaning action is gentler. Hard disk drives, solar panels and ceramic parts can be cleaned at these frequencies. The most delicate components can be cleaned at the highest frequency ranges of 450 to 950 kHz. These frequencies are suitable for semiconductors, LEDs and fragile medical components.
If the ultrasonic generator is used with a single process and always has to clean the same kind of parts, selecting a single-frequency model makes sense. For general-purpose facilities, where the ultrasonic cleaning system may be used for many different cleaning applications, a generator that can produce many frequencies is a good choice.

How Do Ultrasonic Cleaners Work?
A simple way that ultrasonic cleaners work is likening them to an automatic dishwasher, but with some added refinements. An automatic dishwasher, much the same as an ultrasonic cleaner, combines water and a detergent to remove grease, grime and other contaminants from objects being cleaned.
Applications for ultrasonic cleaners include cleaning precision optics and laboratory glassware. Instead of cleaning pots and pans and bowls, ultrasonic cleaners most often are used to clean various other metal and plastic products difficult or impossible to clean by other methods.

What Do Ultrasonic Transducers Do?
There are two basic types of transducers; piezoelectric (a.k.a. electrostrictive) or magnetostrictive, but their function is the same. They are excited by electric current provided by the ultrasonic cleaner's generator to vibrate at ultrasonic frequencies that cause the bottom (and sides as the case can also be) of the tank to vibrate and thus serve as a membrane. This vibration forms the vacuum bubbles that implode, (not explode) on contact with items in the ultrasonic cleaner tank thereby blasting loose and carrying away contaminants. How to Choose an Ultrasonic Cleaner Frequency
Ultrasonic is typically defined as sound above the human range of hearing. Low frequencies such as 25,000 cycles per second or 25 kHz produce relatively large bubbles that implode more violently than those created at higher frequencies such as 37, 80 or 130 kHz that produce progressively gentle cleaning action. As an example, the radius of a cavitation bubble produced at 37 kHz is approximately 88 microns. At 80 kHz it is 41 microns.
As a bit of digression, the implosion of cavitation bubbles produce shock waves radiating from the site of the collapse and create temperatures in excess of 10,000°F and pressures in excess of 10,000 psi at the implosion site. Yet the process is so fast that there is little heat buildup and no damage to parts being cleaned. That said, one should never reach into an operating ultrasonic cleaner to check, reposition or remove parts for examination.
Removing gross contaminants from robust parts such as fabricated or cast metals requires lower frequency cleaners. Softer metals, plastics, and products with polished surfaces should be cleaned at higher frequencies.
