A common process for preparing heavy tungsten alloys involves mixing the desired amount of tungsten, iron, nickel or copper powder and then cold pressing and liquid phase sintering to near full density. During the liquid phase treatment, the base tungsten alloy melts and brings part of tungsten into the solution, forming large tungsten particles (20-60 μm) dispersed in the base alloy.
