RJ-45 interface: RJ45 is the most common network device interface, we also see it on most of fiber media converter, it is twisted pair Ethernet interface. This interface can be used in 10Base-T Ethernet, 100Base-TX Ethernet and 1000Base-TX Ethernet, and the transmission medium is twisted pairs (Cat5, Cat6 cable).

Optical fiber interface: it has been applied in the era of 100Base-TX Ethernet, so it was called 100Base-FX (F is the abbreviation of fiber). There are many types of optical fiber interfaces, and SC fiber interfaces are mainly used in local network switching environments, which are provided on some high-performance Gigabit switches and routers.

FDDI interface: FDDI is the highest rate of transmission in the mature LAN technology. It has the characteristics of timed token protocol, supporting multiple topologies; the transmitting media of FDDI is optical fiber.

AUI interface: is used to connect big coaxial cable. In the early network card, such an interface is connected with hub and switch to form a network. Now it is generally useless.

BNC interface: BNC is used to connect small coaxial cable. Now BNC is basically no longer used for switches. Only a few RJ-45 Ethernet switches and concentrators still provide a few BNC interfaces.

Console interface: network management switch (fiber media converter ) usually has a "Console" port (COM port), it is specially used for configuration and management of the switch. Connecting and configuring switches through Console ports is the way to configure and manage switches. So Console port is the most usual and basic switch management and configuration port.
