Two or more than two optical wavelength signals are transmitted through different optical channels in the same optical fiber at the same time, which is called wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). WDM (wavelength division multiplexer) mainly consists of two major categories: coarse wavelength division multiplexer and dense wavelength division multiplexer.
