1. Product Introduction

 

Ammonium Bifluoride is a white crystal with corrosive to skin and toxic. It is soluble in water and methanol, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in propanone and liquid ammonia. When it is in hot water decomposition will occur to release ammonia and ammonium bifluoride.It is white or colorless transparent orthorhombic crystal at room temperature, with a slightly sour taste. It is easily deliquescent when heated or in hot water, and decomposes into ammonia and hydrogen fluoride. Decomposed in hot water, the aqueous solution is strongly acidic. It is obtained by neutralizing anhydrous hydrofluoric acid with liquid ammonia.

 

Ammonium Bifluoride Features

 

Solubility: Ammonium bifluoride is highly soluble in water, meaning it readily dissolves in water to form an aqueous solution. This solubility makes it useful for various applications where a water-soluble fluoride source is required.

 

Corrosive Nature: Ammonium bifluoride is corrosive to many materials, including metals, glass, and ceramics. It reacts with these materials, releasing hydrofluoric acid, which is highly corrosive and can cause severe burns.

 

Acidic Nature: Ammonium bifluoride is an acidic compound. When dissolved in water, it releases hydrogen ions (H+), resulting in an acidic solution. The pH of a solution containing ammonium bifluoride is typically below 7.

Glass Etching and Frosting: The corrosive nature of ammonium bifluoride makes it useful for glass etching and frosting. It is applied to glass surfaces to create decorative patterns, logos, or frosted designs by selectively removing the glass material.

 

Cleaning Agent: Ammonium bifluoride is employed as a cleaning agent for various purposes. It helps remove mineral deposits, such as limescale or rust stains, from surfaces like tiles, ceramics, and bathroom fixtures. It is also used for cleaning industrial equipment, especially those exposed to harsh environments.
